Priority Zeus

Posted on 22/02/2021 by Hamish

Hi folks. As some of you will know, Zeus, my dog, is getting on in years and has been at the vet a few times lately. This week we have another two visits and new medication and more. I am very tired so I won’t be on stream for the first couple of nights this week but hopefully we will both get some rest soon and I will be back in action.

I will post an update here as soon as there is a schedule ready, for now though there is definitely not a stream Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for being understanding about this – he is my whole world.

The donation goal for January is live and the reward for the stream if it is reached is that Hamish will play an entire night (a full 3 hours!) of Sonic the Hedgehog games on stream.

All donations to help support Hamish throughout January will count towards the goal. You pay for my pain.

Thanks to everyone who can help out and thanks just for watching and reading my nonsense even if you can’t.

Update

Hi Peeps

There have been (so far) 8 days of mass fireworks, some nights sustained for up to 3+ hours. Zeus has been a complete mess to the point where he only has to hear one firework now and he starts shaking uncontrollably. He has also been attempting to dig through floors and the shower to find somewhere to escape to after realising neither front nor back door provide respite. On the actual Bonfire Night (5th November) it was so bad he soiled in the house.

Coping with him and having to take him out for toilet activities through the night after he gets a few hours to calm down have taken their toll on me as well. I am absolutely exhausted, I grab a few hours sleep in the late morning if I can but I haven’t had a proper sleep for about 9 days.

I would like to stream again as normal but I am not sure that is possible. For some reason there are huge numbers of arseholes in the UK who buy fireworks because they are there and let them off for no reason whatsoever. The result is that Zeus can be triggered into a panic any time from late afternoon until about 3am from October until spring. He won’t go out for a walk from late afternoon onwards and the furthest he goes is to the communal area in front of the house. On Thursday there were sustained attacks of around 4 hours then a couple of revivals later in the evening (including after the legal time limit). On Friday he wouldn’t go any further than our garden.

If it was only one or two days a year and people were considerate of others then it would not be so bad. But once fireworks are on sale, simple-minded dickheads have to buy them and let them off at random. The result is that it is very rare to have an evening all autumn and winter *without* any fireworks going off.

Before I get more angry and annoyed I am going to wrap up. The bottom line is that I don’t know what is happening in the next week with streaming. I doubt it but, if tomorrow night is calmer, I might be ok for getting back to it. I will attempt to post an update on Monday at some point.

Stay safe,

Uncle Hamish x
