The HamCom fab.80 is a project to build a Z80 CPU based computer system. I want to build it using authentic technology but with some convenience factors added (like modern I/O). Since conceiving the idea I have been reading about and discovering loads of other home brew computer projects. Many other enthusiastic makers are in various stages with projects that have similar goals. My project is not based on any of them in particular but there is no point in ‘reinventing the wheel’ so I have definitely avoided a lot of trial and error by finding projects where others have solved problems in the way I was aiming for.
So far there are a lot of ideas, some of which are documented, some solder-less breadboard testing of bits & pieces and lots of brainstorming with my stream viewers.
Some sub-pages from this page will appear as details are solidified and hopefully answer any questions you have. Keep an eye on the main page articles as well, under the category fab.80 and/or homebrew micro.
